Job summary

Aim Transportation Solutions seeks a Solder Repair Technician to repair circuit boards failing tests and prepare sub-assemblies for the Power Department. You will rework surface mount and through-hole components, read PCB schematics, and select solder and tooling per specs.

Applicants should hold J-STD-001 certification, MEMS-related education, and be proficient in ESD control. The role requires physical endurance and adherence to 5S practices in a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• J-STD-001 certification required or preferred.
• MEMS-related associate degree or higher.
• Strong reading/writing/arithmetic skills and attention to blueprints and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Reworks surface mount and through-hole components to meet IPC criteria.
• Preps and solders wires on sub-assemblies for top-assembly product.
• Reads PCB schematics and assembly drawings to guide repairs.
• Uses soldering irons, hot air tools and related equipment as required.
• Follows rework instructions from QC and Engineering.
• Maintains clean, safe work area following 5S practices.

Solder Repair TechnicianSummary: The solder repair repairs circuit boards which fail at test or are otherwise not functioning due to not meeting IPC acceptable criteria. The technician will also participate in prepping sub-assemblies for the Power Department, which includes prepping and soldering wires.Responsibilities:Reworks surface mount and thru-hole components that may be incorrect, damaged, or unacceptablePreps and solders wires on sub-assemblies required for top-assembly product within the Power DepartmentReads PCB schematics and assembly drawingsFamiliar with solder tooling such as soldering irons, hot air rework tools, et ceteraFamiliar with fundamental functions of various electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, and moreSelects appropriate solder, flux, and tooling for each unique product per customer specificationsFollows rework instructions from Quality Control and EngineeringCollaborates with supervisor and test technicians to troubleshoot and repair unitsMaintains and clean and safe work area by participating in 5S practicesAll other responsibilities as assigned by managementEducation and Experience:J-STD-001 certificationMicro-elecromechanical Systems associate’s degree or higherExperience with ESD control programStrong reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.Ability to read and understand blueprints, bill of materials and follow work instructionsUnderstanding and support of company policies and proceduresExcellent AttendancePhysical Requirements:Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs frequently.Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.High mental and visual acuity while in coordination with manual dexterity for prolonged periods of time.Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.Work Site EnvironmentAbility to work in a 55 – 85-degree Fahrenheit work environment.
