Basic QualificationS

• Automation Tools: Ansible, Puppet, BigFix
• Solaris 10 & 11
• Veritas Cluster Server (VCS), General Parallel File System (GPFS), Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), and Symantec’s Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle RAC.

A Sr. System Administrator shall provide operating system in a 24 x 7 x 365 environment (except for Federal holidays where support will be provided on a call back basis) for Solaris 10 and 11. The candidate shall provide system administration activities and immediate troubleshooting efforts when contacted by the Service Desk to ensure outages or incidents are resolved as quickly as possible for over 300 Solaris and HP-UX servers, as well as work on teams with AITC customers and partners, end users, programmers and analysts, Database Administrators (DBAs), and application and network administrators.

Job Description/Responsibilities

• General experience with Oracle Solaris 10 & 11
• Strong skills required with in these specific areas, particularly on Solaris 11:
• Administering Network Services
• The ability to match physical network interface names to their vanity names.
• Detailed knowledge on implementing and troubleshooting IP Multi-pathing
• Familiarity with VLAN(s) and VLAN Tagging a plus.
• Must be resourceful in network troubleshooting, such as the ability to determine if a network interface is on a different VLAN than expected.
• SAN Storage Integration
• Must have a detailed knowledge of SAN topologies.
• Must know how to discover new storage devices and
• The ability to run commands to determine IO paths between a host based fiber adapter and the storage array and proper balancing across multiple paths.
• Familiarity with EMC and/or Hitachi arrays and storage replication feature a plus.
• Familiarity with various file systems and volume managers including ZFS and Veritas Volume Manager
• Virtualization Technology
• Must have some basic experience with Oracle Virtual Machine for Sparc
• Creating Logical Domains (LDOM(s))
• Adding/removing restores to LDOM(s), such a memory, CPU resources and virtual disks
• General familiarity with Solaris Containers (zones)
• Solaris Operating Environment Installation and management
• Solaris 11
• Experience installing Solaris 11 using Automated Installer
• Hands on or conceptual knowledge about using OS Archives
• Experience using Boot Environment and applying OS updates
• Solaris 10
• Experience installing Solaris 10 using Jumpstart
• Hands on or conceptual knowledge about using Flash Archives
• Experience using Live Upgrade to apply monthly Patchset releases
