Job summary

LA International is seeking a Solaris Engineer for remote working. You will provide 3rd line support for Solaris UNIX environments, maintain and optimise Solaris systems, and develop shell scripts to automate operations in a 24/7 security-cleared setting.

The role requires active SC clearance, strong Solaris and UNIX/Linux troubleshooting, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with global teams to keep cloud-based services secure and resilient.

Qualifications

• Significant hands‑on experience supporting Solaris UNIX operating systems.
• Strong Solaris infrastructure knowledge, including virtualisation technologies.
• Proven 3rd Line UNIX/Linux infrastructure support experience.
• Strong UNIX shell scripting and automation capabilities.
• Experience troubleshooting complex UNIX operating system and infrastructure issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical investigation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing operational priorities.
• Understanding of cloud computing and infrastructure service delivery.
• Knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN) would be highly advantageous.
• Experience with ACM, CA, Opsview or Veritas NetBackup would be highly desirable.
• Operational experience with IBM AIX, SUSE Linux or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) would be beneficial.
• Experience supporting secure, business‑critical infrastructure environments would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide 3rd Line technical support for Solaris UNIX infrastructure and operating systems.

• Support operating system maintenance, upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
• Work with infrastructure teams to maintain secure and stable cloud-based services.
• Contribute to technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures and service improvements.
• Support operational activities within a 24/7 live-service environment.
