Job description

The AES Operations team is looking for a Solar Technician II. This position will cover assigned O&M activities associated with the solar PV sites and substations of the utility‑scale solar energy plants located in Indiana. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring that AES CE operates the portfolio to standards that exceed industry best‑practice. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with the ability to build, train and lead other field personnel, and will have an opportunity for professional growth as AES CE expands its leading position among IPPs.

This role will work on the Hardy Hills project (Frankfort, IN 46041). Daily commute to the site is required. Traveling up to 25% will be required, mainly to support operations in the Hardy Hills project.

Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and operations for solar PV sites and substations.
  • Handle corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance.
  • Work with equipment such as Power Electronic HEMK Gen3 inverters and Nextracker tracking systems, including high/medium/low voltage switching.
  • Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Work independently or in teams.

Education and Experience

Working Conditions
  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, climbing, and use of protective equipment.
  • May work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
  • Occasional lifting and working overtime or non‑standard hours.
