Job summary

CSS in Greenville, NC seeks a Solar Technician I to support senior staff in safe, timely service of utility-scale solar facilities. You will learn company protocols, perform basic troubleshooting, and help ensure high-quality field service.

You'll spend most time in the field, work 90% on-site, and participate in on-call shifts, with opportunities to grow as you gain hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical trades.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to read technical specifications and electrical schematics.
• Basic understanding of electrical theory and photovoltaic systems.
• Willingness to participate in on-call schedule and travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting and repairing utility-scale solar generators.
• Assist with commissioning, QA inspections, or preventive maintenance as needed.
• Provide timely Field Service Reports to Operations for client delivery.
• Maintain a high level of customer service in the field.
• Perform vegetative maintenance and participate in weekend/holiday on-call shifts.

Job description

Position Summary:

The Solar Technician I will be the junior field service technician for CSS’ operations and maintenance of solar facilities. The Solar Technician Iis responsible forsupporting senior field staff in the safe andtimelycompletion of all service obligations, learning CSS company protocols, andrepresentingCSS in the field.

Essential Functions:

• Prioritize safety daily and activelyparticipatesin site safety meetings
• Assistwith troubleshooting and repairing utility scale solar generators
• Assistwith commissioning, quality assurance inspection, or preventative maintenance work as needed
• Provide timely Field Service Reports back to Operations staff for delivery to clients
• Ensure a premium level of customer service
• Perform vegetative maintenance asrequired
• Participate inweekend and holiday on-call schedule
• Occasionalovertime work andovernight travelrequired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiencyreading technical specification documents, site plans, & electrical schematics
• Familiarity with tools, terminologies, and processes associated with electrical andmechanical trade work
• Basic understanding of the principles of electrical theory and photovoltaic power generation
• General computer, network, and technologyproficiency
• Understanding & experience in the operation and concepts relating to electrical and mechanical trade work
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Team oriented attitude
• Values staff development and organizational excellence

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving recordtooperatea company vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

• First-Aid/CPR/AED
• NFPA 70E
• OSHA 10
• Field experiencein residential,commercialor utility scale solar PV

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 poundsfrequently
• Ability to work athigh heightswith the use of a safety harness

Work Environment:

• ~90% of time spent in-field at utility scale solar facilities
• Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold
• Exposure to native plants and,occasionally, animals
• Exposure to electrical hazards
