Job summary

Service Robot Co. is seeking field technicians to install and maintain solar equipment across customer sites in California. This contract role pays per work order and requires hands-on trade skills, safety discipline, and the ability to travel to multiple job sites.

You’ll complete on-site tasks such as mounting panels, wiring, inverters maintenance, and routine inspections. Training through our academy is provided, with paid first assignments and support from a remote specialist.

Qualifications

• Experience in roofing, electrical work, construction, HVAC, or similar trades.
• Basic electrical knowledge or willingness to learn through training.
• Ability to work outdoors, at height, and travel to sites.
• Strong safety awareness and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Install solar panels, mounting systems, and wiring according to site plans.
• Maintain and repair inverters, combiner boxes, trackers, and connectors.
• Inspect systems, take electrical readings, and use thermal scans to find faults.
• Clean panels and complete scheduled maintenance.
• Record each visit with photos, readings, and repair notes.
• Explain findings and follow-up work to the site owner.
• Keep tools, meters, and protective equipment ready for use.

The role

Install and maintain solar equipment on rooftops, ground-mounted systems, and large solar sites.

What you will do

• Install solar panels, mounting systems, and wiring according to site plans.
• Maintain and repair inverters, combiner boxes, trackers, and connectors.
• Inspect systems, take electrical readings, and use thermal scans to find faults.
• Clean panels and complete scheduled maintenance.
• Follow fall protection, electrical isolation, and test-before-touch procedures.
• Record each visit with photos, readings, and repair notes.
• Explain findings and follow-up work to the site owner.
• Keep tools, meters, and protective equipment ready for use.

What we are looking for

• Experience in roofing, electrical work, construction, HVAC, or another practical trade.
• Basic electrical knowledge or willingness to learn through training.
• Careful attention to safety and signs of equipment failure.
• Comfort using ladders, wearing a harness, and working at height.
• Availability for physical outdoor work and travel to customer sites.
• Reliability and clear communication.

Training

You will complete an online course through our Service Robot Co. Academy, followed by in-person training and the industry certifications needed for this role. The Academy is certificate training that we subsidize. Your first job is paid, with a specialist supporting you remotely.
