Position Overview

Solar Alternatives is seeking a dedicated Solar Installer (Service Technician III) to join our dynamic team. The role combines on‑site installations, warranty service, and team training within a clean energy organization that values advanced technology and professional growth.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organize and maintain warranty and service schedules, ensuring timely communication and completion of work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues involving modules, inverters, monitoring, and balance‑of‑system components.
  • Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians and serve as a subject‑matter expert providing on‑the‑job instruction.
  • Exceed defined goals for key performance indicators such as turnaround time, experience rating, and average dispatches completed.
  • Follow safety procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain company fleet stock, cleanliness, and warehouse organization as assigned.
  • Perform general labor tasks, including carrying panels and ladders, panel cleaning, and site cleanup.
  • Support onboarding and training of new field service team members and participate in the on‑call rotation.
  • Execute punch‑list follow‑ups to ensure install quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Model Solar Alternatives’ organizational culture daily.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in rooftop photovoltaic installations, construction, or related building sciences.
  • Experience in roofing, electrical, service, or HVAC is desirable.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Well‑spoken, clean appearance, and good client manners.
  • Clean driving record, valid license, and ability to drive both small and large service vehicles.
  • Drug‑free.
  • OSHA 10 certification required upon hire or obtained within three months.
  • Proficient with hand tools and basic power tools.
  • Ability to work 40–50 daytime hours per week.
  • Willingness and ability to learn product value and explain it to clients.
Preferred
  • Electrical, roofing, service, or engineering training or education.
  • Service, NABCEP, or electrical certification.
  • OSHA 10‑hour or other safety certification.
  • Field service software familiarity.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Work unsupervised and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands/fingers.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Involves groundwork, ladder work, lift work, and occasional roof work.
  • Work performed on customer installation locations.

Salary starts at $25–28/hr based on qualifications, plus potential sales bonuses. Benefits include majority‑paid medical, dental, vision, and a matching 401(k) program. Earned paid time off begins at two weeks annually.
