Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Solar Technician to join AES Clean Energy’s growing team. The role is based near Charles City County, VA, with daily site commutes to the Keydet site, and involves maintenance of utility-scale solar plants in Virginia, including inverters, trackers, and electrical systems.

You will perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance, follow safety standards including LOTO, work with SCADA and CMMS, and contribute to plant operations while collaborating with

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Technical degree or Solar certification (plus).
• Experience in solar system installation (plus).
• Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for O&M activities at Virginia solar PV sites and substations.
• Performs/assists with corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on inverters, trackers, and electrical systems.
• Performs routine electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, and basic inverter repairs.
• Prepares switching and clearance orders.
• Operates electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
• Participates in training as required.
• Performs administrative duties related to operation and maintenance of the plant.
• May assist with vegetation management and site upkeep.
• Writes plant orders, procedures, and operating instructions.
• Ensures safety and environmental compliance.
