Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Commissioning specialist to support pre-commissioning and commissioning of utility-scale solar and related infrastructure. You will ensure communications systems integrate with SCADA, perform tests, and document results on site with a safety-first mindset.

The role requires collaboration with engineering, construction, and QA to meet schedules and standards, including NFPA/NEC and IEEE guidelines. Hybrid work with on-site visits is involved.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of networking and communications systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Ability to interpret Electrical and Mechanical Drawings/Schematics.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement site specific commissioning plans and adhere to schedules.
• Coordinate with project teams, including engineering, construction, and quality assurance, SCADA to ensure alignment on commissioning activities.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests, including performance, functional, and reliability testing of all communications systems.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the commissioning process to ensure optimal performance of SCADA and site communications systems.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports, documenting test results, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.
• Continuously improve commissioning processes by incorporating feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.
• Assists site commissioning personnel in establishment of the Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program and ensuring compliance with its provisions.
• Utility scale solar power plants testing for EPC or Utilities in the United States
• Fiber installation and testing
• Ethernet installation and testing
• Serial communications installation and testing (Modbus, DNP, etc)
• SCADA system understanding, testing, and commissioning
• Knowledgeable in NFPA/NEC standards, and IEEE/IES/API Standards.
• Familiarity with NERC guidelines and ISO/TSO requirements a plus.
