Job summary

DEPCOM Power, a Koch Industries company, seeks a Commissioning Technician to perform commissioning and testing of substation equipment, with a strong focus on safety and field service excellence. The role includes hands-on testing, SCADA integration support, and NETA/NERC testing for external clients across solar projects.

The position requires up to 80% travel to project sites, including weekends/holidays, and a high degree of collaboration with subcontractors and vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher with 3 years of testing/evaluating electrical systems, or trade school with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience testing, troubleshooting, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems.
• Experience performing power quality measurements and relay testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning and testing of substation and interconnect equipment.
• Support SCADA team with system integration and troubleshooting.
• Maintain logs, checklists, and safety documentation (LOTO).
• Lead or assist in startup and energization of electrical systems.
• Train subcontractors and vendors on safety protocols (LOTO, Energized Zone).
• Deliver timely service reports and provide equipment performance insights.
