Job summary

Birch Creek Energy is seeking a Solar Performance Engineer to oversee technical performance, optimization, and reporting for its utility-scale solar and storage assets. The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, cross-team collaboration, and proactive maintenance planning.

Ideal candidates bring deep engineering expertise, strong analytics, and experience with monitoring platforms and O&M contracts. Occasional site visits are expected as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in technical operations or asset management of utility-scale solar (storage a plus).
• Deep understanding of PV system components, grid-tied systems, and performance modeling.
• Familiarity with SCADA/DAS systems and analytics platforms.
• Strong technical reporting and data analysis skills (Python, Excel, SQL).
• Experience managing O&M contracts and enforcing technical warranties/guarantees.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• NERC/FERC knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support daily performance, reporting, and O&M initiatives across solar and storage assets.
• Monitor platforms and analytics to maintain real-time visibility of performance.
• Identify underperformance trends and coordinate remediation with O&M teams.
• Assist with due diligence related to performance guarantees and warranties.
• Prepare technical reports for investors, lenders, and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with O&M providers and track contracts.
• Assist with evaluating monitoring and asset management software.
