Job summary

One Tech Engineering is seeking a Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician for Bangor, Maine. You will lead complex inspections, troubleshoot and repair solar systems, and mentor junior technicians in a safety-driven environment.

Required are 2–4 years in solar or related electrical field, Master Electrician License, and strong knowledge of electrical schematics, diagnostic tools, and grid-tied systems. OSHA 30e/NFPA 70e and FAA Part 107 are valued assets.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in the solar industry or related electrical field.
  • Master Electrician License is required.
  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certifications.
  • FAA Part 107 Certification (or proficiency operating drones for thermography).
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy technologies and grid-tied systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Strong communication, leadership and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of solar power systems.
  • Mentor and supervise junior technicians on inspection and maintenance procedures.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues including grid integration and communications.
  • Create documentation of inspections, maintenance and repairs and prepare technical reports.

Job Description

One Tech Engineering is looking for a Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician located in Bangor, Maine. The Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician will be leading complex inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs, and mentoring technicians.

The candidate must be a US citizen or hold a green card. The candidate should have at 2-4 years of experience in the solar industry or related electrical field.

Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Review and ensure correct PPE is available and being used properly.
  • Create PLOTO and LOTO Switch plans for approval.
  • Act as work leader for Pre-Job Briefs, Job Safety Analysis, Personal LOTO, and switch plan LOTO.
  • Lead comprehensive inspections of solar power plants.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Supervise and train junior technicians on inspection and maintenance procedures.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues, including grid integration and communication problems.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to diagnose and address system performance issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for management.
  • Skilled in Work Order documentation; provide oversight and direction in documentation to junior technicians.
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements for the Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician:
  • 2–4 years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field.
  • Must have a Master Electrician License.
  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certifications.
  • FAA Part 107 Certification (or proficiency operating Drones for Aerial Thermographic purposes).
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy technologies, and grid-tied systems.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior technicians in the field.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
