Job summary

One Tech Engineering seeks a Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician in Denver, CO. You will lead inspections, troubleshoot complex solar systems, and mentor technicians in a fast-paced field environment.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years in solar or related electrical work, a Colorado Journeyman Electrician license, and relevant certifications. You’ll work on grid-tied systems and participate in safety briefings and reporting.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in solar or related electrical field.
  • Colorado Journeyman Electrician license (DORA).
  • OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certifications.
  • FAA Part 107 Certification (or drone proficiency).
  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy technologies, and grid-tied systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex inspections of solar power plants and mentor technicians.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems and grid integration issues.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Review PPE usage and maintain safety policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.

Job Description

One Tech Engineering is looking for a Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician located in Denver, Colorado. The Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician will be leading complex inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs, and mentoring technicians.

The candidate must be a US citizen or hold a green card. The candidate should have at 2-4 years of experience in the solar industry or related electrical field.

Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Review and ensure correct PPE is available and being used properly.
  • Create PLOTO and LOTO Switch plans for approval.
  • Act as work leader for Pre-Job Briefs, Job Safety Analysis, Personal LOTO, and switch plan LOTO.
  • Lead comprehensive inspections of solar power plants.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Supervise and train junior technicians on inspection and maintenance procedures.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues, including grid integration and communication problems.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to diagnose and address system performance issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for management.
  • Skilled in Work Order documentation; provide oversight and direction in documentation to junior technicians.
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements for the Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician:
  • 2–4 years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field.
  • Valid Colorado Journeyman Electrician license (DORA State Electrical Board).
  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certifications.
  • FAA Part 107 Certification (or proficiency operating Drones for Aerial Thermographic purposes).
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy technologies, and grid-tied systems.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior technicians in the field.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
