Job summary

SMA America is seeking a Field Service Engineer for the Midwest, based in Minneapolis, MN, with a field-based role covering the region. The position requires significant travel within the Midwest and occasional travel to other US locations.

You will commission, troubleshoot, and repair SMA utility inverters in the field and support warranty services. The role demands a technical bachelor's degree (or equivalent renewables experience) and at least 3 years in electrical/electronic or network

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent renewables industry experience.
• Ability to work nonstandard hours and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Commission, troubleshoot, repair SMA inverter systems in the field.
• Work with high voltage DC, three-phase power, and inverter software/firmware.
• Maintain maintenance activities per SMA manuals and customer contracts.
• Develop knowledge of SMA utility inverter products and accessories.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and strive to reduce field service costs.
