Job summary

Service Robot Co. in Houston, TX is seeking a field-based solar installation technician to join our team.

You will install solar panels, wiring, and mounting systems on rooftops and ground-mounted sites, and perform routine maintenance and fault-finding with safety at the forefront. Training is provided online and in-person, with paid work during initial assignments and opportunities to earn certifications as you advance.

Qualifications

• Experience in roofing, electrical work, construction, HVAC, or another practical trade.
• Basic electrical knowledge or willingness to learn through training.
• Safety-focused with signs of equipment failure.
• Comfort using ladders, wearing a harness, and working at height.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and perform outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Install solar panels, mounting systems, and wiring according to site plans.
• Maintain and repair inverters, combiner boxes, trackers, and connectors.
• Inspect systems, take electrical readings, and use thermal scans to find faults.
• Clean panels and complete scheduled maintenance.
• Follow fall protection, electrical isolation, and test-before-touch procedures.
• Record each visit with photos, readings, and repair notes.
• Explain findings and follow-up work to the site owner.
• Keep tools, meters, and protective equipment ready for use.
