Key Responsibilities

As a Solar Energy Technician, you will be a key player in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of solar systems across various client sites. Your role will include:

Solar System Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on solar PV systems, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.

- Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.

- Carry out regular system checks, ensuring all components, including inverters and panels, function optimally.

Installation and Repairs:

- Lead and participate in the installation of new solar systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.

- Perform repairs on faulty solar systems, replacing damaged or outdated components and restoring system functionality.

Customer Interaction and Support:

- Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining professional relationships and ensuring client satisfaction with every project.

- Offer clients insights and advice on system performance, upgrades, and maintenance, enhancing their understanding of solar energy solutions.

Procurement and Inventory Management:

- Manage the procurement of solar system components, such as panels, inverters, and wiring, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.

- Track and maintain inventory of spare parts, ensuring accurate records of usage and order quantities.

Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance activities, system upgrades, and repairs performed on-site.

- Prepare technical reports for clients, summarizing work completed, system performance, and any recommendations for future improvements.

Technology Integration and Research:

- Stay up to date on the latest developments in solar energy technology and actively participate in the evaluation of new tools, equipment, and techniques.

- Attend conferences, B2B meetings, and workshops to gain insights into emerging trends and best practices in the solar energy sector.

Requirements

Educational and Professional Qualifications:

- A degree in engineering (preferably electrical or mechanical) or a related technical field.

- 2+ years of solar technical experience, including hands-on work with solar PV systems.

Technical Skills and Expertise:

- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for solar PV systems, inverters, and related equipment.

- Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams and schematics.

- Experience with the maintenance of LV and 22kV cable systems, including fault location and diagnostics.

- Cable jointing qualifications and experience are a plus.

Physical and Travel Requirements:

- Ability to work on rooftops and at heights as part of solar panel installation and maintenance.

- Ability to lift and move objects up to 35 kg as needed during installations and repairs.

- Willingness to travel regularly, including occasional travel at night, to client sites for installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Additional Certifications:

- Working knowledge of power system protection is an advantage.
