Samuel Knight Corporation is seeking a Solar Electrical Superintendent to lead electrical self-perform crews on utility-scale solar projects across the Southeast, starting in Virginia. The role requires directing Foremen, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring work aligns with schedules, safety standards, and project specs.

The ideal candidate will have extensive electrical leadership on solar sites, with strong self-perform construction knowledge, and the ability to manage field crews

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Electrical Superintendent or senior electrical field leadership on utility-scale solar projects.
• Experience leading Foremen and large electrical crews; self-perform construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical self-perform crews across utility-scale solar projects; direct Foremen and field personnel.
• Manage DC collection, AC systems, MV, underground electrical, terminations and balance-of-system work.
• Ensure field activities meet safety, quality, schedule, and project drawings/specifications.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents to plan manpower, equipment and materials.
• Track daily/weekly progress, identify delays, and implement recovery plans.
• Coordinate electrical subcontractors to meet safety, quality and productivity standards.
• Review drawings/specifications and communicate requirements to Foremen and field teams.
• Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure installations meet specs and inspections.
• Maintain focus on safety, quality and productivity; participate in daily planning and toolbox talks.
• Identify constructability issues early and resolve with project leadership; support testing and closeout.

Samuel Knight Corporation, a specialist recruitment firm based in Dallas, is proud to be partnering with one of the leading construction and electrical contractors in the country in their search for a Solar Electrical Superintendent.

This is a travelling position supporting utility-scale solar projects across the Southeast, starting with a project in the Chesapeake area of Virginia.

We’re looking for someone with strong utility-scale solar experience who is comfortable managing electrical self-perform crews, working to project schedules and having Foremen report directly into them, while also overseeing subcontractors where required. More specifically, we’re looking for someone who can:

• Lead and coordinate electrical self-perform crews across utility-scale solar projects, providing day-to-day direction to Foremen and field personnel.
• Manage electrical installation activities including DC collection, AC systems, MV, underground electrical, terminations and associated balance-of-system work.
• Ensure field activities are being completed safely, efficiently and in line with project drawings, specifications and schedule.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and other Superintendents to plan manpower, equipment and materials around upcoming work.
• Track daily and weekly progress against the construction schedule, identifying potential delays and putting recovery plans in place where required.
• Coordinate and manage electrical subcontractors, ensuring work is completed to the required safety, quality and productivity standards.
• Review drawings, specifications and scopes of work and communicate requirements clearly to Foremen and field teams.
• Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure installations meet project specifications and inspection requirements.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and productivity across all electrical field activities.
• Participate in daily planning meetings, toolbox talks and coordination meetings with other trades and project leadership.
• Identify constructability issues and field challenges early, working with project leadership to resolve them without impacting schedule.
• Support testing, commissioning and project closeout activities as the project progresses toward completion.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in an Electrical Superintendent or senior electrical field leadership position on utility-scale solar projects, with a strong understanding of self-perform construction and the ability to effectively lead Foremen and large electrical crews.

This is a travelling role, so candidates must be comfortable travelling throughout the Southeast as projects require.
