Job summary

SpaceX in Texas is seeking a Solar Cell Factory Automation and Controls Engineer to design, build, and optimize control systems for solar cell manufacturing equipment and material handling. You will own projects from ideation through commissioning and hand-off to operations.

The role emphasizes safe electrical design, robust control software, and total ownership of existing systems while expanding capabilities for high-volume production. A background in high-speed manufacturing is valuable.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or chemical discipline is required.
1+ years of experience with high-speed manufacturing, controls and automation, and/or programming.
Experience with industrial electrical panels and safety standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and manage automation projects for solar cell manufacturing equipment.
Architect, write, and debug PLC code for high-volume manufacturing.
Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, and equipment.
Create intuitive HMI screens for operators and troubleshoot complex machines.
Integrate equipment into master SCADA and MES systems.
Ensure NEC, NFPA, UL508A compliance for electrical designs.
Manage schedules and budgets and guide the team to milestones.
