Duke Energy Corporation is hiring a Project Director to oversee pre-construction delivery of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects in the Charlotte area. This role requires leading cross-functional teams, managing EPC contractor relationships, and coordinating owner responsibilities from initiation through contracting.

The PD reports to a General Manager in PMC and focuses on scoping, scheduling, cost control, and risk management to ensure on-time, low-risk project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 9+ years of related work experience; or High School/GED with 13+ years of related work experience.
• Experience leading complex capital projects in utility-scale environments.
• Proven ability to negotiate EPC contractor and supplier agreements.
• MBA or professional certifications (PMP, PE, AACE) preferred.

Responsabilités

• Lead utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects after initiation, through funding approval and contracting.
• Own pre-construction project performance: scope, cost, schedule, risk, and stakeholder alignment.
• Lead multidisciplinary matrixed project teams and drive effective coordination across the organization.
• Serve as Duke Energy’s primary interface with EPC contractor leadership and manage contractor performance.
• Coordinate owner scope, owner-furnished equipment, grid interconnection requirements, and operational readiness activities.
• Establish project budgets, forecasts, contingencies, and execute contracts in collaboration with internal partners.
• Provide transparent project reporting to senior leadership and communicate risks, opportunities, and decisions clearly.
