ICF's Technical Advisory Team is focused on enabling the development and investment in energy infrastructure. As a Construction and Commissioning Engineer, your role involves engaging with clients and solving challenges related to the development, design, construction, commissioning, operation, and analysis of renewable energy projects.

You will join a motivated team of industry experts, contributing to high-value technical diligence and providing solutions for technical and commercial challenges faced by our clients. This role offers opportunities to work across various energy technologies and engage with industry stakeholders on evolving energy opportunities.

Technical Advisory services include strategic investments, portfolio management, operational planning, market development, policy analysis, regulatory support, and customer engagement, collaborating across divisions like Power & Gas, Environment & Planning, and Transportation & Sustainability. As an Operations & Maintenance Consultant, you will leverage your industry experience to provide independent engineering and owner’s engineering advisory services.

Location options: Remote, Reston, Virginia, or Golden, Colorado.

What you will do:

• Travel to project sites for pre-construction reviews, construction monitoring, and operational reviews.
• Perform site visits primarily in North America, with approximately 75% travel required.
• Collaborate with on-site construction and O&M personnel to assess operational status and challenges.
• Review engineering, construction, procurement, interconnection agreements, and support technical analyses of contracts and plans.
• Utilize your design, construction, or operations experience to perform due diligence on engineering documents and operational reports.
• Contribute technical insights to multidisciplinary project teams.
• Complete project work within set timelines and budgets.
• Stay informed on industry trends and market activities.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record in technical consulting, engaging with client decision-makers, and experience in construction, cost estimating, and commissioning of solar and storage assets.

Basic Qualifications:

• Background in electrical work, solar construction, or a degree in construction management or engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience in the construction, commissioning, or operation of solar systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Experience with project financing due diligence.
• Over 5 years of construction industry experience, preferably with renewable energy projects.
• Familiarity with interconnection processes, construction and commissioning plans, and related contractual agreements.
• Experience with remote monitoring systems and project documentation.
• Strong project management and client relationship skills.

• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Willingness to travel extensively and manage multiple projects.
