Position Summary
The Soil Room Attendant is responsible for receiving, unloading, sorting, and processing soiled linens, uniforms, and other textiles in a safe and efficient manner. This position ensures proper classification of goods, removal of foreign objects, and preparation of textiles for washing while maintaining quality, productivity, and workplace safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload carts, bags, and containers of soiled textiles.
  • Sort linens, uniforms, garments, and other items by type, color, soil level, and wash classification.
  • Inspect textiles for damage, stains, tears, and foreign objects.
  • Remove and properly dispose of trash, sharps, personal items, and other non-laundry materials.
  • Accurately identify and separate customer-specific products according to company procedures.
  • Feed sorted goods onto conveyors or into designated containers for washing.
  • Maintain production quotas and workflow requirements.
  • Follow all safety, infection-control, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, damaged products, safety concerns, and quality issues to supervisors.
  • Assist with general production duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to company attendance, safety, and quality standards.
    Required Qualifications

    Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to work in environments with heat, humidity, dust, odors, and varying noise levels.
  • Ability to push and maneuver loaded laundry carts.
    Working Conditions
  • Industrial laundry production environment.
  • Exposure to soiled linens and potentially biohazardous materials.
  • Frequent use of PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, face masks, and protective footwear.
  • Work around moving machinery and conveyor systems.

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify sorting categories quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain productivity standards while ensuring quality.
