Job summary

NuAxis Innovations is seeking a Software Tester / QA Automation Engineer to own functional, integration, regression, accessibility, API, and performance validation for a modernized application. You will build and maintain automated testing with Cypress as a core framework and integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.

The role requires 4+ years of QA experience, strong Cypress and API testing skills, and familiarity with Oracle data and authentication methods.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Software Tester / QA Automation Engineer to own functional, integration, regression, accessibility, API, and performance validation for the modernized application. This role is expected to build and maintain a robust automated testing capability, with Cypress as a core browser/end-to-end automation framework, and integrate automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent QA/testing professional experience.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 4+ years of software QA/testing experience across web applications, REST APIs, data integration, and multi-tier enterprise systems.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and reusable test suites.
• Strong hands-on Cypress experience for UI, end-to-end, regression, and integration testing of modern web applications; JavaScript/TypeScript test scripting experience required.
• Experience with API automation/testing tools or libraries such as Cypress API testing, Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or equivalent.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and enforcing pass/fail quality gates for builds and releases.
• Experience validating Oracle-backed applications, data integrity, service integration, and authentication mechanisms such as SAML/OAuth2/OIDC.
• DHS Trusted Tester certification or equivalent demonstrated Section 508/WCAG 2.1 AA testing competency required.
• Experience with performance/load testing tools such as JMeter, Locust, k6, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with FISMA/NIST-informed testing evidence, secure SDLC controls, and compliance-oriented documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop the overall test approach and maintain traceability from requirements and acceptance criteria to test cases, automated tests, defects, and release evidence.
• Design, implement, and maintain Cypress automation covering critical user journeys, functional regression, negative scenarios, cross-browser behavior, and integration workflows.
• Create reusable test utilities, fixtures, data-management patterns, page/component abstractions, mocks/stubs where appropriate, and stable selector strategies to reduce flaky tests.
• Automate REST API validation and combine API- and UI-level testing to provide efficient end-to-end coverage.
• Integrate Cypress and other automated suites into CI/CD pipelines; configure repeatable execution, reports, artifacts/screenshots/videos where supported, and build/release quality gates.
• Execute functional, system, integration, regression, smoke, exploratory, and release-readiness testing across UI, middleware, Oracle data, and external interfaces.
• Validate authentication, authorization, session behavior, error handling, data integrity, and workflow orchestration across application tiers.
• Perform Section 508/WCAG accessibility testing using DHS Trusted Tester methodology and appropriate automated/manual accessibility tools; document evidence and remediation findings.
• Design and execute performance/load tests for medium and major features against defined SLAs and nonfunctional requirements; analyze response time, throughput, latency, errors, and resource behavior.
• Manage defects through triage, severity/priority assignment, reproduction evidence, retesting, regression analysis, and closure; identify recurring defect patterns and quality risks.
• Maintain test data and environment dependencies in coordination with developers, DBA, security, and operations staff.
• Publish sprint/release quality metrics such as automation pass rate, regression coverage, defect leakage, defect aging, accessibility findings, performance results, and release blockers.
• Participate in refinement and acceptance-criteria development so testability, edge cases, automation needs, and nonfunctional requirements are defined before implementation.

Core Technical Skills

• Cypress with JavaScript/TypeScript for automated UI and end-to-end testing.
• API automation/testing, test framework design, regression strategy, test data management, and CI/CD integration.
• Section 508/WCAG and DHS Trusted Tester methodology; manual and automated accessibility validation.
• Performance/load testing using JMeter, Locust, k6, or equivalent.
• Defect management, root-cause collaboration, reporting/metrics, and requirements-to-test traceability.
• Working knowledge of Angular applications, REST middleware, Oracle data, authentication flows, Git, and DevSecOps quality gates.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

• Experience with component testing, visual regression, accessibility automation (e.g., axe-core integrations), or contract testing.
• Experience reducing flaky automation and optimizing parallel execution in enterprise CI environments.
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar test/defect management platforms.
