Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Software Tester to support a highly secured, mission-critical government system. You will join a cross-disciplinary Agile/SAFe team to ensure quality of custom software through manual and automated testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; 4 years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
• 2+ years of IT experience.
• 2+ years as Software Test Engineer or similar role.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship.
• Strong experience in manual and automated testing.
• Knowledge of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and testing methodologies.
• Ability to analyze complex requirements and design detailed test cases and scripts.
• Experience with creating and maintaining automated tests using Selenium and Playwright.
• Experience with Java-based applications and CI/CD workflows (GitHub).
• Experience with GitHub, JIRA, SVN for version control.
• Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and backend testing.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and design documents to create manual test cases and automated scripts.
• Perform manual functional, regression, integration, and system testing; log defects.
• Design and maintain Selenium and Playwright automation suites for UI and API testing.
• Work with Java-based applications to maintain test frameworks and scripts.
• Run automated tests in CI/CD pipelines and analyze results; triage failures.
• Execute load and performance tests and contribute to analysis and reporting.
• Track defects from creation to closure with clear documentation.
• Deploy software to test environments and monitor logs for issues.
• Participate in peer reviews of test cases and scripts; ensure traceability to requirements.
• Assist Test Lead with release test plans, RTM, regression suites, and test summaries.
• Support QA checks to ensure deliverables meet client and SAIC standards.
• Collaborate with business analysts and developers; operate in a SAFe/Agile environment.
• Support testing of integrated solutions involving Pentaho, Liferay, and PowerApps where applicable.

You will work as part of an integrated Agile/SAFe development and test team, collaborating with developers, testers, and business analysts to ensure the quality and reliability of custom-developed software.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about quality, with strong experience in both manual and automated testing.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze complex business and technical requirements and design documents to develop detailed manual test cases and automated test scripts
• Perform manual functional, regression, integration, and system testing; document actual results; and log defects in the defect tracking system
• Design, create, and maintain Selenium and Playwright automated test suites (UI and/or API as applicable)
• Work with Java-based applications to design and maintain appropriate test frameworks and scripts
• Execute automated test suites as part of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., via GitHub workflows/actions); analyze results, triage failures, and report issues
• Execute load and performance tests as needed, and contribute to performance analysis and reporting
• Track defects from creation through closure, with clear documentation and close collaboration with developers to reproduce and resolve issues
• Deploy software to test environments, monitor application and server logs, and identify errors or unexpected behaviors
• Participate in test case and test script peer reviews to ensure completeness, accuracy, and traceability to requirements
• Assist the Test Lead in:
  • Developing and maintaining release test plans
  • Creating and maintaining the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM)
  • Managing the regression test suite (manual and automated)
  • Preparing test summary reports at the end of each testing phase
• Support internal quality assurance checks on deliverables to ensure they are complete, accurate, and adhere to client and SAIC standards
• Collaborate with business analysts on business and functional requirements and with developers on technical requirements
• Work within a SAFe/Agile environment, participating in ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) and contributing to continuous improvement
• Support testing of integrated solutions involving technologies such as Pentaho, Liferay, and PowerApps where applicable

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted for a degree)
• 2+ years of total IT experience
• 2+ years of experience as a Software Test Engineer or similar role
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship
• Strong experience with both manual and automated testing
• Strong knowledge of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and testing methodologies
• Proven ability to analyze complex requirements/designs and create detailed test cases and scripts
• Demonstrated experience executing test cases, documenting results, identifying defects, and producing test reports
• Hands-on experience creating and maintaining automated tests using Selenium
• Hands-on experience creating and maintaining automated tests using Playwright (or demonstrated ability to quickly ramp up)
• Experience testing or working with Java-based applications
• Experience with GitHub (e.g., GitHub repos, branching, pull requests, basic CI/CD workflows)
• Experience with configuration management and version control tools such as the Atlassian suite, JIRA, and/or Subversion (SVN)
• Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation and backend testing
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, priority-shifting, deadline-driven environment
• Strong organizational, presentation, and business analysis skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with or exposure to:
  • Pentaho (ETL, data integration, or reporting)
  • Liferay (portal/content management solutions)
  • Microsoft PowerApps (low-code business applications)
• Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) or other Agile methodologies
• Experience creating and editing technical documentation and user manuals for new or upgraded software

Target salary range: $60,001 - $100,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
