Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Software Tester to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through comprehensive test planning, execution, and reporting. The SQA Test Engineer will perform both manual and automated testing, collaborating with developers and business analysts.

You will support release activities, maintain testing standards across projects, and contribute to test design, data validation, and defect tracking in cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience.
• 5+ years overall experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust requiring U.S. Citizenship.
• 2+ years of experience as a software test engineer or similar QA role.
• Strong understanding of the Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC) and testing methodologies.
• Proficiency in executing manual tests and documenting results.
• Experience designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated tests (functional, regression, data-driven) using UFT or similar tools.
• Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and back-end testing.
• Experience with Jira/Xray or similar test management platforms.
• Familiarity with Git and version control.
• Experience with software testing in cloud environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to document issues clearly.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

SAIC is looking for a Software Tester who is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through comprehensive test planning, execution, and reporting. The SQA Test Engineer will perform both manual and automated testing, collaborate with developers and business analysts, support release activities, and help maintain testing standards and best practices across the project.

Primary Responsibilities

• Analyze complex business and technical requirements and design documents to develop detailed test plans and step‑by‑step manual test cases.
• Execute manual test cases, document actual results, review outcomes, and log anomalies in the defect tracking system.
• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated functional, regression, and data‑driven test scripts using UFT or similar automation tools.
• Analyze automated test results, identify failed scenarios, and work with the team to determine root cause.
• Track defects from creation to closure, providing detailed descriptions and working with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Deploy software builds to test environments, monitor server logs, and identify errors or unexpected log entries.
• Support load and performance testing activities and contribute to performance analysis.
• Participate in and/or facilitate peer reviews of test cases to ensure alignment with client requirements and test objectives.
• Assist the test lead with release test planning, including creation of Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), maintenance of regression test databases, and generation of test status and summary reports for each test phase.
• Support internal QA checks on all deliverables to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to client standards and processes.
• Collaborate with business analysts on business/functional requirements and with developers on technical requirement validation and testability.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.(4 years experience in lieu of degree)

• Strong understanding of the Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC) and established testing methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex requirements and produce detailed test cases and scripts.
• Proficiency in executing manual tests, documenting results, identifying defects, and creating test reports.
• Experience designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated tests (functional, regression, data‑driven) using UFT or similar test automation tools.
• Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and back‑end testing.
• Experience with Xray for Jira or similar test management platforms.
• Familiarity with configuration and version control tools such as Git.
• Experience with functional, load/performance, and security testing in cloud environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document issues and communicate findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast‑paced, and deadline‑driven environment.
• Strong organizational, presentation, and business analysis skills.
• Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Desired Qualifications and Skills

• Basic experience with LoadRunner or similar performance testing tools.
• Basic VBScript knowledge (particularly for use with UFT).
