Job summary

TriCom Technical Services is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for a 12-month contract in Kansas City, MO. The role requires 6+ years of manual and automated QA experience, with hands-on expertise in UFT, VB Script, REST/SOAP API testing, and Playwright.

Responsibilities include developing robust test plans, executing UI and API tests, and performing root-cause analysis on defects, while collaborating with design and development teams to align tests with business requirements.

• Conduct functional, integration, system, and end-to-end (E2E) testing to verify system functionality, component interactions, and complete user workflows against business requirements.
• Perform regression testing after each build/release to ensure previously working functionality remains intact and defects have not recurred.
• Create and maintain comprehensive test cases and a regression test suite; use a risk-based testing approach to prioritize critical scenarios.
• Perform UI testing for Web applications and API testing to validate REST/SOAP services, request/response payloads, and API contracts.
• Log and track defects through their lifecycle, verify defects, retest, and provide root-cause analysis.
• Help ensure the test plan properly aligns with business requirements by participating in software design and review sessions.
• Develop configurable, maintainable, reusable, and dependable test automation components.
• Execute the test plan, record and report results, assist with analyzing test results, and provide root-cause analysis for problems encountered during testing.
• Prepare and acquire test data and conduct peer review of test work products.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining test environments; develop test case automation criteria; set up and check out test environments; prepare architecture diagrams.
• Assist with developing test case automation criteria and preparing architecture diagrams.
• Support manual testers with their automation needs and determine which manual test cases should be converted to automation scripts; this may include executing manual test cases as needed to learn application functionality.
• Prepare for and take part in testing activities for production deployments and remediation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of manual and automated Quality Assurance Engineer experience.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and the importance of the QA function within the framework.
• Must have experience with UFT and VB Script.
• Must have functional testing experience.
• Must have experience with API automation using Java REST-Assured.
• Experience with Postman for API testing.
• Experience with Playwright automation Framework.
• Experience with test management tools including Xray (or similar) for test case management, execution, and traceability.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies including Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, and Behavior-Driven Development.
• Working knowledge of test case management and execution using test management tools.
• Experience implementing and auditing automated test methodology and QA standards.

This is a 12-month Contract opportunity.
