Job summary

Machina Labs is seeking a Software Engineer in Test to own quality, validation, and release execution across our software platform. You will build automated testing infrastructure, validate new features, triage issues, and act as a gatekeeper for releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or comparable practical experience.
• Experience testing software systems, including writing test scripts or test code.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks or tools.
• Ability to debug issues across software and automation interfaces.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience testing industrial automation systems, robotics, or hardware-software integrated products.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, versioned deployments, and release validation.
• Experience supporting deployments and troubleshooting issues in production environments.
• Background working in small, fast-moving engineering teams where quality ownership is critical.

Responsibilities

• Own quality strategy for the software stack and release criteria.
• Define, maintain, and execute test plans and release checks.
• Execute smoke and regression tests for release candidates.
• Serve as release authority for production promotions.
• Design and maintain automated testing and validation pipelines with CI/CD.
• Run tests to validate functionality, performance, and reliability.
• Support deployments to production with monitoring and initial issue response.
• Collect user feedback to guide quality improvements and testing priorities.
• Triage and escalate software issues to engineering teams as needed.
• Collaborate with Robotics and Automation Engineers on deployments to cells.
• Continuously improve testing tools, processes, and release workflows.
