Job summary

General Motors in Michigan seeks a Software Quality Engineer to design and execute test plans and automated tests, ensuring quality and reliability of software products. You will collaborate with development to address defects and deliver high-quality software aligned with project requirements.

You will develop comprehensive test plans, execute tests both manually and via automation, and maintain scripts for regression testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2 years of software engineering/validation experience.
  • Two years of experience with: Test Planning, Test Case Development, Execution, Automation, and Documentation; Automation Test Frameworks including Selenium, Cypress, Unittest, Appium, Cucumber, and Katalon Studio; Automotive infotainment system operation; Embedded automotive modules; Speech recognition systems; and Software coding, scripting languages, and databases including Python.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality and reliability of software products through design and execution of test plans, test cases, and automated testing processes.
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify and address software defects and ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and specifications.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases based on project requirements.
  • Execute test cases manually and through automated testing tools.
  • Identify, record, and track software defects, and work closely with developers to resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes.
  • Implement and execute automated regression testing.
  • Document and communicate test results and status reports to the development team and stakeholders.
  • Maintain documentation of test cases, test scripts, and testing processes.
  • Set up and configure test environments to mirror production environments (benches/vehicles).
  • Keep test environments up-to-date with the latest software versions and configurations (VCU).
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel.
  • Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.

Job description

DUTIES

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study and 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Systems Engineer, Validation Engineer, or related role.
  • Two years of experience with: Test Planning, Test Case Development, Execution, Automation, and Documentation; Automation Test Frameworks including Selenium, Cypress, Unittest, Appium, Cucumber, and Katalon Studio; Automotive infotainment system operation; Embedded automotive modules; Speech recognition systems; and Software coding, scripting languages, and databases including Python.
