This onsite San Diego role requires DevSecOps and AGILE expertise across architecture design, PoC development, and rapid capability

Qualifications

Job description

SAIC is seeking a highly experienced Software Systems Integration Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide senior technical leadership for critical software development, integration, and deployment efforts supporting complex operational environments. This role will work directly with senior leaders, software teams, systems engineers, integration teams, and technical stakeholders to evaluate, develop, test, integrate, and deploy software capabilities at scale. The candidate will help establish and sustain production and development environments, manage technical backlogs, and drive software capabilities from requirements and proof-of-concept development through integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment. The role requires extensive software engineering and systems integration expertise, strong knowledge of modern DevSecOps and AGILE methodologies, and the ability to provide technical direction in a rapid innovation environment.

THIS IS AN ONSITE ROLE IN SAN DIEGO, CA. WITH UP TO 20% OF CONUS/OCONUS TRAVEL INVOLVED.

JOB DUTIES:

• Lead the software development and integration lifecycle for resilient software and web applications, including requirements analysis, specification, architecture, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, maintenance, and sustainment.
• Work directly with senior leaders, technical stakeholders, and engineering teams to evaluate technical needs, define objectives, develop and prioritize backlogs, and deliver software capabilities at scale.
• Design, develop, integrate, and implement software solutions using modern DevSecOps practices, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), microservices, APIs, and other modular software approaches.
• Perform system and software design, development, integration, and implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes to evaluate emerging capabilities and rapidly transition successful solutions toward production use.
• Integrate software applications, web-based products, network operating environments, data services, and supporting systems to ensure interoperability and reliable end-to-end capability delivery.
• Apply software architecture, requirements-driven design, test-driven development, and behavior-driven development principles to improve software quality, resiliency, maintainability, and alignment with technical requirements.
• Analyze system workflows, data usage, software dependencies, interfaces, and technical problem areas to identify integration challenges and develop effective engineering solutions.
• Serve as a senior technical authority by providing recommendations to engineering and program leadership, mentoring junior engineers, reviewing technical approaches, and guiding teams through complex software development and integration challenges.
• Document and demonstrate technical solutions through system documentation, architecture diagrams, flowcharts, interface descriptions, specifications, standards, code comments, technical briefings, and other engineering artifacts.

REQUIREMENTS :

• Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must have an Active Secret clearance to start
• Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI after start
• Extensive experience in software engineering, software systems integration, application development, systems engineering, or related technical disciplines supporting complex software environments.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, requirements-driven design, software integration, system interfaces, and the complete software development lifecycle.
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, deploying, and sustaining resilient software applications, web applications, or distributed software systems.
• Experience developing software solutions using modern development practices, modular architectures, APIs, services, or microservices-based approaches.
• Experience supporting DevSecOps and Agile software development environments, including backlog management, iterative development, integration, testing, and rapid capability delivery.
• Experience performing system design, software development, integration, and implementation of prototypes or proof-of-concept capabilities.
• Experience analyzing system workflows, data flows, application interfaces, software dependencies, user requirements, and technical integration challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to provide senior technical leadership, mentor engineers, coordinate across multidisciplinary teams, and provide recommendations to technical and program leadership.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex software and integration topics into clear recommendations for engineering, program, senior leadership, and technical audiences.
