Job summary

KNAPP is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer I for its Operations team in Kennesaw, GA. The role focuses on testing software products, creating and executing test cases, and supporting cross-functional teams to ensure quality in intralogistics solutions.

You will work in a mixed Linux/Windows environment, write automated tests, and collaborate with development and commissioning teams to improve test coverage and reliability. Travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of C++ or Java development.
  • SQL and PL-SQL experience is required.
  • Experience with Linux; work in a mixed Linux and Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of Bash, Perl, or Python is a plus.
  • Knowledge of networking infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of software development technologies and design patterns.
  • Ability to create workflows and sequence diagrams and implement accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Review function sheets and create test cases for new developments.
  • Organize and lead a project meeting with SW Commissioning and Development.
  • Integrate selected test cases into a standard set of test cases for the respective Software product.
  • Organize, prepare, and test software in the office (Kennesaw/Atlanta, GA) and/or at customer sites.
  • Train and support customers on issues related to our software and logistics.
  • Configure simulator and lead cross-product tests.
  • Document performed tests via test documentation system.
  • Create anomaly reports in bug tracking system.
  • Provide technical support including support on technical and process-oriented questions.
  • Create, maintain, and adapt auto-tests.
  • Responsible for the roll-out of auto-tests of products to projects.
  • Maintain and support simulations and sandboxes and test VMs.
  • Develop and support internal software projects.
  • Enhance and extend test coverage of functions of a product.
  • Create test projects and test plans based on standard test cases.
  • Support the test lead on WMS projects.
  • Prepare and sometimes, lead customer and employee training.
  • Continuously update and share technical notes (KDB).

Test of products/projects

  • Review function sheets

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong knowledge of C++ or Java development
  • SQL and PL-SQL experience is required
  • Experience with Linux o Work in a mixed Linux and Windows environment
  • Knowledge of one of the following scripting languages is a plus:
    • Bash, Perl, or Python
  • Solid understanding of network infrastructures
  • Knowledge and understanding of logistical workflows and processes
  • Knowledge of current software development technologies and design patterns
  • Capability to create workflows and processes in written form and sequence diagrams, and to develop and implement accordingly
  • Strong knowledge in one of the following fields: o Database development; process development, UI/HMI development • Knowledge of Knapp software implementation process

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Overtime as required by work
  • Up to 30% travel, domestic and international
  • Ability to travel by air both domestically (US) and internationally (primarily, Austria and other parts of Europe, as well as Canada)
  • Professional office etiquette is required at all times
  • Physical requirements may include sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm’s length, and lifting up to 50 pounds
