Job summary

Nokia is seeking a Sr. Software Quality Assurance engineer for its IP Division to contribute to the 7750 Service Router family. You will join a team of skilled engineers delivering new capabilities for high-performance networking in cloud, LTE/5G, and IoT contexts.

The role emphasizes quality, strong problem solving, and collaboration, with opportunities to influence architecture and drive important non-functional requirements as part of a global team.

Qualifications

  • Experience with routing and signaling protocols (OSPF, ISIS, BGP; RSVP/LDP preferred).
  • Linux experience and scripting languages (TCL, Python, Perl, shell).
  • NFV/SDN and virtualization tech (KVM/QEMU, Xen, VMware ESXi) a plus.
  • IP networking testing and troubleshooting experience.
  • Familiarity with networking test tools: IXIA, Spirent, IPerf, Wireshark.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, attention to detail, and team work.

Overview

We are currently looking for a Sr. Software Quality Assurance for our team. The successful candidate will work in a team of highly motivated and talented software engineers, responsible for delivering new capabilities on the 7750 Service Router (SR) in Nokia's IP Division. The Nokia 7750 SR product family provides high-performance networking to meet evolving service demands driven by the cloud, LTE/5G, and the Internet of Things. Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform development activities of high-complexity features.
  • Provide technical leadership and support a small team / multiple features to complete a project/stream.
  • Lead technical discussions with peers about enhancements and improvements in own areas of expertise.
  • Create parts of architecture (small/basic) with a focus on performance and scale.
  • Drive non-functional requirements within the team.
  • Effectively handle complex customer issues.
  • Improve the code base with measurable product behavior. Own complex features and ensure delivery completion with quality.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge (and experience if possible) of routing protocols (OSPF, ISIS, BGP) and/or signaling protocols (RSVP, LDP).
  • Experience and knowledge of Linux and programming languages (preferably scripting languages such as TCL, Python, Perl, shell).
  • Knowledge (and experience if possible) of NFV (Network Function Virtualization), SDN, Virtualized Switching products and related virtualization technologies (KVM/QEMU, Xen, Vmware ESXi) is a big plus.
  • Experience in IP networking testing and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with networking test tools (IXIA, Spirent, IPerf, Wireshark, etc.).
  • Aptitude for methodical problem solving, good communication skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work well in a close-knit team.
  • Accountability for quality, accuracy and efficiency of own and/or team achievements. Actions and errors can have program, project, or functional impact.
  • Ability to perform and/or coordinate day-to-day activities to meet departmental/project objectives.
  • Ability to conduct root/cause analysis on complex problems and develop and implement recommendations.
  • Experience with handling a variety of complex activities within a broader area of responsibility and problem analysis.
  • Willingness to take on new roles appropriate to skill set in different environments and locations; ability to influence others and communicate with functional leadership on team and technical matters.
  • Experience conducting briefings with senior leaders within the job function and having cross-cultural knowledge and a global mindset.
  • Management experience or advanced skills/knowledge within a professional discipline combining theory with organizational practice.
  • Requires 4-6 years of relevant experience and/or a graduate-equivalent degree.
