Job summary

Trident Systems in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Software QA Engineer to support an aerial surveillance system for a Department of Defense customer. You will perform hands-on software and system testing on an integrated application with sensors, video, and imagery, collaborating with experienced QA engineers and developers.

The role requires 0–2 years in software QA, familiarity with test tools and SDLC, and the ability to work on-site full-time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
• 0-2 years of experience in software quality assurance or related field
• Familiarity with Software Test Tools and Bug Tracking Software
• Basic understanding of software testing concepts and SDLC
• Familiarity with testing methods including functional, regression, integration, and system testing
• Ability to follow test procedures and document results
• Ability to identify and report defects clearly
• Experience with issue-tracking tools like Jira/Confluence
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• Ability to work on-site full-time in Fairfax, VA
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

Responsibilities

• Execute documented software and system test procedures
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test procedures
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing
• Document test results and provide status updates to QA and development teams
• Identify, document, and track defects through resolution
• Reproduce issues and assist with troubleshooting
• Verify corrections and perform regression testing after changes
• Set up and maintain test environments and data
• Review requirements and verify test coverage
• Communicate questions or concerns to senior team members
• Use Jira/Confluence to manage defects and documentation
• Support build and release testing activities
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies
• Collaborate with developers and systems engineers to resolve issues
• Help improve QA processes and tools
• Maintain product and test documentation
• Follow QA processes and standards
• Flag potential quality concerns to leadership
• Perform other QA and testing activities as assigned
