Job summary

Spectrum is seeking a Network Engineer III to design, implement, and optimize complex network systems in support of Managed Services and IP routing. You will plan, architect, and enhance networks while ensuring compliant, scalable designs across multiple domains.

The role requires a BS in CS/EE or equivalent, 5+ years of data network experience, and strong TCP/IP and OSI expertise. Cisco CCNP and fiber knowledge are preferred. On-call and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years data network experience.
• Strong knowledge of OSI model, TCP/IP, and optical transport.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, Fiber, Bridging, Switching, Routing and Transport technologies.

Responsibilities

• Participate in network planning, architecture design and engineering.
• Integrate and depict communication architectures and protocols into complete network configurations.
• Evaluate new products and perform network problem resolution.
• Develop and document technical standards and SOPs.
• Design and implement network enhancements and improvements.
• Work on projects of medium to high complexity and provide escalated support.

Are you ready to assist in planning, forecasting, and implementing highly complex network systems? We have opportunities supporting operations in Managed Services as well as IP Routing. As a Network Engineer III at Spectrum, you will design protocol compatibility standards, develop network enhancements, recommend improvements, and be responsible for implementing network architecture and designs.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering
• Integrate and schematically depict communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations
• Evaluate new products, perform network problem resolution
• Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards
• Develop and implement approved methods of procedure
• Design and establish protocol compatibility standards, develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvement
• Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization
• Provide escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendors
• Work on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
• Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable

Required Qualifications

What You'll Bring to Spectrum

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience

• Ability to read, write and speak the English language
• Ability to use personal computer and software applications like Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated in-depth data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)
• Ability to work in a team environment, perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in network design, network architecture, network protocols, network topology, network devices, and network appliances
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio

Preferred Qualifications

Education

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
• Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
