Position Summary

The Software Integration Engineer is responsible for implementing STERIS ORI software products accurately and effectively within hospital enterprise network environments. They will execute technical aspects of software implementation, including comprehensive server setup, configuration, testing, and updates while maintaining a focus on product security. The role involves resolving field issues, engaging with Customer representatives for technical discussions, planning, and providing technical and scope oversight. Their expertise in Unix/Linux systems and scripting allows them to solve complex problems and enhance workflow automation for STERIS.

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills. They should adapt readily to evolving technologies, have a passion for continuous learning, and be dedicated to quality and improvement. The role requires being proactive, self-motivated, with strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Note: This is a hybrid role (3-days onsite) at Mentor Ohio STERIS Headquarters.

What You'll Do As A Software Integration Engineer

1. Perform STERIS ORI product deployments and updates, including configuring, installing, monitoring, and supporting various information management products, and addressing Customer inquiries related to cybersecurity and IT setups.
2. Resolve field issues through systematic analysis to identify root causes and mitigation strategies.
3. Support end-to-end system testing and troubleshooting.
4. Generate implementation instructions and troubleshooting documentation, and provide support and training to service engineering.
5. Collect networking information from the Customer in collaboration with the project manager.
6. Configure enterprise Operating Room Integration system features at the application level.
7. Perform add-ons, including device, room, and campus add-ons to existing enterprise suites.
8. Conduct field validation testing to ensure successful software integration into the Customer environment.
9. Work directly with Customers and internal teams, analyze and summarize escalations caused by software bugs or development issues.
10. Document root causes and corrective actions within escalated tickets.

The Experience, Skills, And Abilities Needed

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in software development, shell scripting, or Linux system administration.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems, including command line proficiency.
• Proficient in creating, managing, and maintaining cron jobs and bash scripts, with a focus on security best practices.
• Familiarity with Ansible, system logs analysis, and system performance monitoring.
• Experience working with DevOps teams and understanding of Docker/containerization principles is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of hospital IT environments and concepts such as EMRs, HL7, PACS, VNAs, HIPAA, and OR Integration Systems is a plus.
• Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VPN, and security protocols.
• Relevant Linux certifications (RHCSA, Linux+) are a plus.
