Job summary

Waymo LLC in San Francisco offers a software engineering internship that partners with industry leaders to work on impactful autonomous driving projects. You will explore graph-based algorithms, perception, and driving behavior improvements while preparing solutions used by real-world autonomous systems.

You will collaborate across teams, applying your knowledge to data-driven challenges and gaining hands-on experience with C++, Python, and SQL in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with graph search, optimization, or path planning algorithms.
• Proficient in C++ with robust, efficient code.
• Experience in AV/robotics projects is required.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Investigate driving behavior issues from logs and identify root causes.
• Research, design, and implement perception and driving behavior improvements.
• Improve evaluation capabilities to understand on-road performance.
• Contribute to solving challenging driving scenarios in the long tail.

Requirements

• Experience in graph search, optimization, or path planning algorithms
• General software engineering experience programming in C++ with robust and efficient code
• AV or Robotics experience
• Coding proficiency in Python and SQL
• Ability to collaborate within and across teams
• Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, ML, Robotics, or similar technical field of study
