Job summary

Waymo LLC is seeking an intern in Mountain View, CA to advance sensor calibration for the Waymo Driver. You will contribute to developing, evaluating, and deploying multi-sensor calibration algorithms within a complex robotic software stack.

You will work with experienced hardware and software teams, apply C++ and ML techniques, and gain hands-on experience deploying calibration systems across platforms. This internship offers hybrid work options and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an MS/PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, or a similar technical field of study.
• Experience in C++ and deploying software as part of a complex system.
• Experience calibrating multi-sensor robotic systems.
• Experience evaluating and deploying ML systems.

Responsibilities

• Help Waymo scale the sensor calibration algorithms to support many hardware architectures by developing the next-generation calibration system.
• Develop, evaluate, and deploy new initiatives for the next-generation calibration system.
• Evaluate and deploy ML-based calibration systems in new areas not yet covered in the literature.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and operations teams on deploying real-world robotic systems.

• To this end, we develop sensor data alignment and calibration algorithms, a growing sensor health backend, and deploy our systems both into the Waymo Driver and our log processing backend
