Software Engineering - Software Engineer V

Location: Burlingame, Sunnyvale, or Menlo Park CA (Onsite)

COMPENSATION: $79 - $89 HOURLY

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Mobile Systems Engineer with client-server experience. This role involves the design and implementation of comprehensive software systems that include wearable devices, mobile applications for both iOS and Android, and distributed backend services. The position requires a strong focus on system performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement software systems spanning wearable devices, iOS/Android mobile applications, and distributed backend services.


• Optimize CPU, memory, latency, and system reliabilities.


• Debug race conditions, thread-safety issues, and complex concurrency problems.


• Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members.

Required Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience is required. Candidates with 7 or more years of experience may be considered if they also possess preferred skills.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in mobile product development using Kotlin or Swift with distributed backends.


• Experience in multithreaded, event-driven systems with a focus on concurrency and asynchronous programming.


• Strong understanding of system engineering principles, including architecture design, performance optimization, and system reliability improvements.


• Knowledge of memory management, resource ownership, race conditions, and deadlock prevention.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building wearable products such as glasses, watches, or mixed-reality headsets.


• Proficiency in system programming with C++ or Rust.


• Experience with AI/ML engineering, including LLM prompt tuning, evaluation, tool calling, and agent workflows.
