Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a senior software engineer with 10+ years of experience to architect, design, and deliver highly scalable products. You will mentor peers, drive test automation, and own critical components in a hybrid engineering model.

The role requires deep OO programming knowledge (Java/JavaScript/C++) and expertise in NodeJS/Express, web tech, and automated testing (JUnit/JSUnit/Selenium). Office-Flex applies for some teams.

Qualifications

• Related technical degree required.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong OO programming background in Java, Javascript, C++, C#, Ruby or Python.
• High proficiency in at least one web framework (NodeJS/Express/Hapi).
• Solid understanding of web tech: JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, XML, JSON, Ajax.
• Experience with SQL/PL-SQL and relational DB design.
• Automation testing experience with Java/JUnit/JSUnit/Selenium.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; Office-Flex: in-person three days/week or 10 days/quarter for some teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, test and deliver highly scalable products
• Master our development process, culture and code base, then improve it
• Operate optimally in the hybrid engineering model where engineers are encouraged to be able to craft and complete the vital work to ensure quality in their own code as well as other engineers
• Mentor others in development technologies, tools, and processes
• Present your own designs to internal/external groups and review designs of others
• Develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, write unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metrics
• Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to address sophisticated problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available.

Desired Skills and Experience

• A related technical degree required
• 10+ years of professional software development experience
• Deep knowledge of object oriented programming and experience with at least one object oriented programming language (Java, Javascript, C++, C#, Ruby, Python)
• High proficiency in at least one high-level programming language and web framework (NodeJS, Express, Hapi, etc.)
• Proven understanding of web technologies, such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, XML, JavaScript, JSON, and/or Ajax
• Validated understanding of Database technologies such as SQL, PL/SQL and relational database schema design
• Experience in automated testing including unit and functional testing using Java, JUnit, JSUnit, Selenium
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Office-Flex: Work in-person three days per week; or 10 days per quarter for some engineering teams

Preferred Skills

• Experience building highly scalable web applications.
• Experience with Agile software development and test-driven development.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field Track record of being a top performer in current and past roles

The typical base salary range for this position is $172,500 - $313,700 annually.

In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $207,800 - $344,700 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
