Job summary

Sanmina Corporation's SCI Technology in Huntsville, AL seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead software development for rugged intercommunication systems, avionics LRUs, and mission-critical embedded electronics, driving agile, data-driven workflows while ensuring DO-178C and AS9100 compliance.

You will mentor teams, implement CI/CD, AI-assisted tooling, and collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Test Eng to accelerate delivery and maintain regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years in team or technical management leading embedded or safety-critical software organizations.
• Proficiency with modern toolchains (GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, SonarQube, Docker) and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Strong command of agile methodologies, requirements traceability, quality metrics, and delivering faster, higher-quality software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead all software engineering teams supporting SCI’s product lines with strategic direction and scalable structure.
• Establish a modern software development framework emphasizing agility and speed to delivery, with CI/CD and DevSecOps integration.
• Implement AI-assisted tools to boost coding efficiency, documentation, verification, and releases.
• Introduce metrics dashboards to track velocity, code quality, defect rates, and milestone adherence.
• Ensure software complies with DO-178C and cybersecurity requirements; maintain configuration and change control.
• Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Test Engineering for rapid integration and test cycles; work with PMO on cost-to-complete forecasts.

At this time, SCI is recruiting highly qualified candidates whose background and career goals meet our needs for a Software Engineering Manager in Huntsville, AL. In this role, you will lead all software development activities across our Products Group—including ruggedized intercommunication systems, avionics LRUs, and mission-critical embedded electronics—modernizing and accelerating software development by introducing agile, data-driven, and AI-assisted workflows while maintaining strict compliance with DO-178C and AS9100 standards.

What You'll Do

• Lead all software engineering teams supporting SCI’s product lines, providing strategic direction, daily operational oversight, and scalable organizational structure.
• Establish a modern software development framework emphasizing agility, accountability, and speed to delivery, while integrating CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps principles.
• Implement AI-assisted tools to improve coding efficiency, requirements documentation, verification accuracy, and release processes.
• Introduce metrics dashboards and accountability frameworks to track velocity, code quality, defect rates, and milestone adherence.
• Ensure all software complies with DO-178C and cybersecurity requirements, maintaining rigorous configuration and change control.
• Collaborate closely with Systems, Hardware, and Test Engineering to enable rapid integration and test cycles, and partner with the PMO to deliver accurate cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Serve as the technical authority for software design standards, tool selection, and reuse strategies across all SCI product lines.

What You'll Bring

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 10+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years in team or technical management leading embedded or safety-critical software organizations.
• Proficiency in modern toolchains (GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, SonarQube, Docker, etc.) and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Strong command of agile methodologies, requirements traceability, quality metrics, and driving measurable improvements in delivery speed and quality.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to motivate teams and hold them accountable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

How To Stand Out

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Technical Management.
• Experience implementing AI-driven testing, documentation, or defect prediction within regulated environments, alongside familiarity with DO-178C, DO-330 tool qualification, and automated verification frameworks.
• Prior leadership experience in a multi-product defense electronics company.
• Active PMP or Scrum Master certification.
