About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our product engineering team, ensure consistent results, develop talented engineers, and foster a healthy, results-oriented culture. The ideal candidate will have a software engineering background and proven team management experience, thriving in an entrepreneurial environment that values initiative and creativity while establishing foundational practices.

You could lead one of these teams:

• Communication Team: Improve messaging, calling, and collaboration tools used by customer-facing teams, focusing on reliability and feature evolution.
• Growth & Trust Team: Create engaging experiences to enhance user onboarding and retention, working with support, sales, and marketing to make processes scalable and self-serve.
• Connect Team: Integrate OpenPhone into SMB tech stacks through strategic product integrations to improve customer experience and support growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving strategic initiatives: Collaborate cross-functionally to align engineering efforts with business goals and execute complex projects that meet customer needs.
• Managing people: Mentor engineers, foster collaboration, manage performance, and support professional development.
• Technical guidance: Provide technical decision-making support, clarify problems, and empower the team to own their decisions.
• Product enhancement: Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to develop and improve our products.
• AI integration: Lead the integration of AI technologies to optimize our offerings.

About You

• Over 2 years of experience managing software engineering teams, understanding the challenges and values of team management.
• Technical background in SaaS or related fields, capable of evaluating technical feasibility and providing strategic guidance.
• An entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building and scaling foundational practices.
• Experience or familiarity with AI technologies and their applications in product development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-team collaboration and decision influence.

The annual base salary in Canada ranges from CAD $195,000 to CAD $210,000, plus equity and benefits. Salary offers will be based on skills, experience, and education. Our total compensation package includes equity, comprehensive medical coverage, a monthly lifestyle stipend, and flexible PTO.
