Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, NY invites an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a talented team responsible for the architecture, design, coding, integration, testing, and sustainment of radio software within the DRDNaught product family. The role features a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off and requires the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of experience; graduate degree with 7+ years; without a degree, 13+ years of related experience.
• Experience developing software in C/C++, Java, and Python.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
• Experience leading software engineering teams on complex programs.
• Experience with Agile software development and SDLC.
• Embedded software development on SDR platforms.
• Experience with real-time OS such as VxWorks, Linux, or QNX.
• Experience delivering integrated hardware, firmware, and software in DoD environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish short-term operational plans and manage execution of software development activities.
• Develop workforce and staffing plans to balance resources.
• Support new business pursuits through proposals, scope definition, and risk identification.
• Provide input on product line direction based on program needs.
• Lead experienced professionals and mentor junior engineers.
• Guide teams through full software development lifecycle and release.
• Collaborate across engineering, test, manufacturing, product, and program teams.
• Identify root causes of complex problems and implement improvements.
