Job summary

UKG is hiring a seasoned Software Engineering Manager to lead a team delivering AI-powered payroll software within our Payroll product suite. You will drive technical excellence, own delivery, and guide decisions on architecture, performance, and reliability.

You will mentor engineers, foster ownership, and partner with product and operations in a DevOps-driven environment. You will lead engineers at the intersection of software and AI, oversee project planning, and ensure on-time delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of software development experience, with 2+ years in technical leadership and 2+ years in people management.
• Experience leading SaaS, enterprise, or highly available production systems.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale software projects.
• Deep expertise in one or more programming languages (C#, .NET, Python, Java, or JavaScript).
• Strong software architecture, design patterns, and cloud/DevOps knowledge.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for major projects and align with business goals.
• Be hands-on with code; participate in architecture discussions and maintain high quality standards.
• Ensure performance, scalability, reliability, and secure practices across systems and AI components.
• Lead teams through DevOps processes from requirements to production support.
