Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the next generation of safety-critical software used in aerospace systems. You will manage design, verification, and certification efforts, guiding cross-functional teams across hardware and software domains, and ensure on-time, within-budget program execution.

The role requires a strong technical background in DO-178C, EVM, and MS/PhD preferred, plus outstanding leadership and communication

Qualifications

Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) required.
Advanced degree preferred; minimum 7 years of related experience if applied.
Proven leadership in software development projects with certification responsibilities.
Strong background in Earned Value Management (EVM).
Hands-on DO-178C software development processes experience.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a high-performing software engineering team, fostering growth.
Drive architecture, design, and delivery of safety-critical software.
Own program execution with scope, schedule, and budget ownership.
Champion engineering excellence with best practices across development, verification, and certification.
Partner with leadership and customers to align solutions with mission goals.
Lead strategy and support bid/proposal activities and scope estimation.
Support hiring, workforce planning, and talent development.
Identify risks early and implement proactive mitigation.
Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
