About Remitian
Remitian is a fintech building tax payment and compliance infrastructure for accountants and the firms they serve in the US and Canada. We ship on a quarterly release cadence, run under SOC 2, and operate in regulated payment rails (FINTRAC in Canada, FinCEN in the US). The engineering org is small, senior, and growing.
The role
Own end-to-end engineering delivery for one or more Remitian product lines. You will run a cross-functional squad and serve as a peer to the Head of Delivery & Operations, with the same level and distinct scope. You will be the senior engineering voice on your product line: setting the cadence, raising the quality bar, hiring the squad, and translating internal work into customer-facing communications.
This is a strong-technical, not coding-day-to-day role. You should be able to read the code, review the architecture, debug a stuck deployment, and earn credibility with senior engineers. The bulk of your time is on people, process, and shipping.
What you own
- End-to-end delivery for your product line(s): backlog grooming, enhancement tracking, sprint cadence, scope discipline within each release cycle, and on-time, defect-free quarterly releases.
- A cross-functional squad of FTE engineers, plus any contractors assigned to your lines. You are responsible for 1:1s, performance, growth planning, levelling, and hiring for the squad.
- Code quality on hot paths: architecture review, PR review for high-risk changes, and the engineering standards that apply within your squad.
- Production incident response for your product line(s): first-pass triage, routing of engineering follow-ups, and post-incident review.
- Customer-facing release framing: translating internal scope into change-list language the CEO can send to customers.
- Contractor onboarding and work-package reviews for engineers assigned to your squad.
- Championing the integration of agents in the SDLC.
- Roadmap input and product strategy contribution alongside the Product Owner and the CEO.
Required experience
- Six or more years of professional engineering experience, including two or more years directly managing engineers.
- Track record shipping production software in a regulated environment such as fintech, healthtech, or govtech. You have lived inside an audit window.
- Strong technical background. You can read the code, review the architecture, and debug a stuck deploy. You are credible to senior engineers without needing to be the strongest coder in the room.
- Comfort treating hands-on coding as the exception, not the default. You prefer leverage through people and process.
- Experience managing both full-time engineers and external contractors.
- Excellent written communication. You can draft customer-facing change-list framing in one pass, not five.
- Comfort operating as a true peer to another senior leader without rigid silos. You do not need every line redrawn to get work done.
Nice to have
- Fintech experience: payment rails (ACH, EFT, card), tax or regulatory domains, money movement, or accounting-adjacent products. You understand why a missed reconciliation matters and you have shipped into rails that punish defects financially.
- Fluency with LLM and AI tools for both engineering productivity and product surface area. You actively use coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) and AI productivity tools (Cowork, agent platforms, AI-assisted research and writing) in your day-to-day, and you have a point of view on how to roll these out across a squad without losing code quality or review rigour. Bonus if you have shipped LLM-powered features into production.
- B2B SaaS or multi-product platform experience.
First 90 days: what success looks like
- You own one squad end-to-end. Backlog and enhancement tracker reflect your cadence; the squad knows who they report to.
- 1:1s, a performance template, and growth plans are in place for every squad member.
- Your first release ships on your watch, with customer-facing release notes flowing through you to the CEO for distribution.
Location and working pattern
