CFS in Madison, WI is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for a permanent role with no sponsorship available. You will lead a team of engineers, drive Agile delivery, and shape technical strategy.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of software development and 4+ years of leadership across diverse delivery models, with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, and AWS expertise.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience with hands-on coding.
• 4+ years managing software engineering teams across on-site, near-shore, and offshore environments.
• Proficiency in React, JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, and AWS.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system design.
• Solid grasp of CI/CD, testing strategies, and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication skills across all levels (written, verbal, presentations).

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, fostering a high-performance, innovative culture
• Conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and support career development
• Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent
• Drive rapid, iterative delivery using Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy
• Champion proof-of-concepts and evaluate emerging technologies to drive innovation
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Product, Design, Business, and Executive stakeholders
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused communication
• Review code and provide technical guidance to the team
• Balance speed with quality while maintaining sustainable pace
• Drive urgency and maintain momentum on key initiatives
• Remove blockers, manage capacity planning, and optimize delivery processes

• Proficiency in modern programming languages - React, Javascript, TypeScript, NodeJS
• Advanced proficiency with AWS
• Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system design
• Solid grasp of CI/CD, testing strategies, and DevOps practices
• Excellent communication skills across all levels (written, verbal, presentations)
• Familiarity with offline-first architecture and IoT integration a plus
