Job summary

ModMed is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead and mentor a team delivering AI-enabled, cloud-based healthcare software solutions. You will balance technical leadership with people management to ensure on-time delivery of product roadmaps.

The role requires guiding architecture, collaborating with product, UX/UI, and security teams, and driving high-performance culture while staying ahead of industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience with architecture background.
• 5+ years in a leadership role managing software teams.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a positive environment.
• Strong understanding of modern software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
• Expertise in Java, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent and frameworks.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices.
• Solid understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Healthcare technology experience is a plus.

Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Software Engineering Manager to lead and mentor a team of talented software engineers in the development and delivery of innovative healthcare technology solutions. This role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on fostering a high-performing team and ensuring the successful execution of product roadmaps.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.


• Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scalable and robust software applications in a healthcare environment.


• Work closely with product management, UX/UI, and other stakeholders to translate product requirements into technical specifications and deliver high-quality solutions.


• Drive technical excellence, ensuring adherence to coding standards, architectural best practices, and security guidelines.


• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development planning for team members.


• Actively participate in the hiring, onboarding, and retention of top engineering talent.


• Contribute to the strategic planning and technical roadmap for the engineering organization.


• Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks and impediments to project progress.


• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.


• 10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong background in architecting and building complex applications.


• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and mentoring software engineering teams.


• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.


• Strong understanding of modern software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).


• Expertise in at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Ruby, Python, JavaScript) and associated frameworks.


• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture.


• Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).


• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.


• Experience in the healthcare technology industry is a plus, but not required.
