Job summary

RTX in Fullerton, CA is seeking a software engineering intern for 2027. You will work in a team to design, code, test, document, and deliver new or modified software functionality during the internship/co-op.

You will collaborate with developers, testers, and systems engineers to ensure proper integration and compliance with industry standards. You will gain hands-on experience in software integration, testing, and DO-178B processes, building essential documentation and teamwork skills for

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship/co‑op session.

What You Will Do

• Work in a team environment to design, code, test, document, and deliver new/modified functionality.
• Coordinate with developers, testers, release engineers, and engineers from other disciplines (e.g., Systems, Hardware) to ensure successful integration with other software components.

What You Will Learn

• You will gain hands‑on experience in software integration, testing, and compliance with industry standards like DO-178B. Develop documentation skills vital for comprehensive software engineering knowledge.
• You will engage in cutting‑edge SBAS development with elite Software Engineers, building your knowledge and skills in aerospace technology and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• You will take flight in the design, development, and verification of operational software, laying a solid foundation for advancement in aerospace.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship/co‑op session.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with C or similar programming languages, structured programming, and software development lifecycle.
• Experience with Unix/Linux-based development environment.
• Knowledge of software testing and source code debugging.

The salary range for this role is 42,000 USD - 88,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
