Central is offering a Software Engineering Internship that gives you hands-on experience on a product team. You’ll learn to write code with real tools, participate in pairing and code reviews, and understand how software delivers value to customers.

This program emphasizes building foundational skills, professional judgment, and a network through events, culminating in a summer project presented to executives.

Responsibilities

• Uses and learns applicable programming language(s) and writes code.
• Learn and use the team’s standard development, source control, testing, collaboration, and delivery tools.
• Implements functionality on top of existing patterns and approaches.
• Work as part of a software engineering product team, participate in pairing and code reviews, and apply coaching from experienced engineers.
• Build an understanding of the product, who uses it, the customer problem it solves, and the team’s role in Central’s value chain.
• Use AI-assisted development tools under team guidance to explore code, tests, documentation, and design options; verify the output and never treat generated content as automatically correct.
• Learn how delivered software behaves after release and how reliability, security, accessibility, maintainability, and data protection influence engineering decisions.
• Completes a summer long project and presents to executive leaders

Job description

Central’s internship program is customized to each placement. Interns gain first-hand experience solving defined business and customer problems as part of a product team.
