Job summary

Stored Energy Systems (SENS) in Longmont, CO is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to develop automated tests in C# for our hardware products. You will work alongside experienced engineers to verify functionality and expand test coverage.

Ideal candidates are pursuing degrees in EE/SE/CE/CS, have coursework-based programming experience, and can commit 10–20 hours per week during the school year. Familiarity with .NET, C#, Visual Studio, and Git is a plus.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Programming experience from coursework or projects; familiarity with an object-oriented language preferred.
• Interest in testing physical hardware and learning basic electrical measurements and device communication.
• Attention to detail and a methodical approach; good communication with engineers.
• Available to work 10–20 hours per week during the school year.

Responsibilities

• Write, debug, and maintain C# automated tests within the SENS test framework for hardware and firmware verification.
• Turn product requirements and test procedures into repeatable tests with clear pass/fail criteria.
• Develop test code that communicates with SENS hardware and lab instruments to configure equipment, control test sequences, and collect measurements.
• Record test results, measurements, and diagnostic information to support troubleshooting and test reports.
• Run automated tests, investigate failures, and document issues with engineers across hardware, firmware, and software.
• Use version control and code reviews to maintain readable, reusable test code and document setup and operation.
• Assist with test fixtures and lab setup under engineering supervision.

SENS is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to develop automated tests in C# for SENS hardware. You will work alongside experienced engineers to verify product functionality, expand repeatable test coverage, and help identify hardware and firmware issues in our battery chargers, DC power systems, and related products.

Responsibilities

• Write, debug, and maintain C# automated tests within the SENS test framework for hardware and firmware verification.
• Work with engineers to turn product requirements and test procedures into repeatable tests with clear pass/fail criteria.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Programming experience through coursework or projects; familiarity with an object-oriented programming language is preferred.
• Interest in testing physical hardware and learning basic electrical measurements, device communication, and troubleshooting.
• Careful attention to detail, a methodical approach to problem solving, and the ability to communicate clearly and work with other engineers.
• Available to work 10-20 hours per week during the school year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with .NET, C#, Visual Studio, Git, automated testing, or lab instruments.
• Familiarity with CAN, serial, USB, or Ethernet communication.
• Object-oriented analysis and design.

Closing Date: November 2nd . While we anticipate keeping this position open through this date, the posting may be extended or closed earlier depending on applicant volume and hiring needs.

Compensation: $25 per hour.
