  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (preferred).
  • Registered and eligible to participate in a co-op through your university.
  • Programming languages C/C++/Python.
  • Agile development processes.
  • Hands-on work with electronic circuitry, cabling, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Involved in embedded systems development: requirements, design, coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Work on motion control and detector subsystems for molecular imaging cameras.
  • Write and test embedded software in C/C++ and Python; document results.
  • Collaborate with firmware and electrical engineers on development and test.
  • Support system host emulator and loading software in the lab.

As an Embedded Software Engineering Co-op, you will be responsible for:

  • May be involved in all aspects of embedded systems development, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing and documentation of the motion control and detector subsystems for molecular imaging cameras.
  • Includes safety critical motions, and mitigations to prevent accidents across multiple axes of motion.
  • Will be expected to write and test embedded software, execute written test procedures, document results, and to recognize/isolate system anomalies.
  • Tasks include writing code (C/C++) for embedded systems, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation of results.
  • Coop will work with firmware and electrical engineers for the motion control and detector subsystems, and assist with development and test.
  • Provide support for system host emulator, as well as assist in the loading of software in the lab.
  • Coop will also help address issues arising from the Defect Handling Board, and may be asked to help out with certain administrative tasks.

Duration

Typically includes one term off from class plus summer (i.e. January-August or May-December), or a longer-term co‑op assignment that can include rotations in school and at work, with some flexibility in scheduling specifics. Flexibility to start based on your availability in conjunction with your academic calendar.
