Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in C/C++/Rust or similar
• Experience automating testing for embedded or mobile products at scale
• Ability to work quickly and effectively in a team in ambiguous situations

Responsibilities

• Configure and customize virtual test environments using KVM, QEMU, Android Emulators, and cloud services
• Assist product teams with integrating virtual test environments into their CI/CD processes
• Create virtual devices to enhance coverage and fidelity, including VirtIO drivers
• Develop custom test tools and simulators to improve testing efficiency and quality
• Enhance reporting and data collection for test results with dashboards and reports
• Write production-quality code, prototypes, and reference implementations to unblock teams
• Create guidance and documentation to share knowledge across the engineering community

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer - Virtual Test Platforms to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.

This role focuses on building and improving virtual testing capabilities that help engineering teams validate software more efficiently and at greater scale. You will work across development, testing, and infrastructure functions to strengthen automation, increase coverage, and improve the quality of test outcomes. The position also partners closely with product and engineering teams to integrate virtual environments into modern delivery workflows.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually
